The University of Navarra » Overview of the Institution

Universidad de NavarraThe University of Navarre is one of the key private higher education institutions in Spain. Since its foundation in 1952 by Josemaría Escrivá de Balaguer. The Law School was the first department to open. Later other centres began to enter into operation, such as the Faculty of Philosophy and Arts, the Journalism Institute (which would later become the Faculty of Information Sciences), the Liberal Arts Institute, the Educational Sciences Institutes, the Institute of Spanish Language and Culture, and the Family Sciences Institute. The University currently has over ten different faculties, two higher education schools, a University Clinic and a Secretarial School, among others.

Its is an institution which aims for excellence and internationalisation, with an above-average proportion of overseas students. It also places great emphasis on research activities, as seen in the University of Navarre Research Plan (PIUNA).

Together with the centres located in the Region of Navarre, the university runs in Madrid and Barcelona one of the most important business schools in Spain, the IESE Business School, another clear sign of its international activity.
