Camilo Jose Cela University » Overview of the Institution

Universidad Camilo José CelaThe Camilo José Cela University is a young university, recognised at the end of the 1990s, by the Spanish Law 18/1998. It is an independent institution, with no political, religious or other connections. The work of the university is based on four major principles: "teaching in reduced groups of 25 to 40 students", a competent and properly trained teaching staff which uses a communicative and participative methodology; "the use of New Technologies", which the university takes special care for; and study plans "designed with a significant practical slant" for which practical experience is compulsory.

These four missions are related to the educational philosophy of the institution, which aims to instil an innovative approach to teaching in the university, where the development of intelligence is fundamental; a student-based model with a tutor acting a mediator, and where the student is actively involved in the pursuit of quality. The Camilo José Cela University therefore defines its teaching methods as "diverse, tutored, practical, humanist, high-quality" and based on "the quality culture".

In order to achieve these objectives and the implementation of this teaching model, the University has a campus measuring over 100,000 sqm, with high-tech buildings, library, student halls, sports facilities (five-a-side football, handball, tennis, padel, indoor swimming pool) and garden areas. All this is located in the Villafranca del Castillo residential estate, in Villanueva de la Cañada, situated 25 kilometres from Madrid.

As part of its educational programme, the institution combines official course with its own internal course, in addition to postgraduate and doctorate studies. There is also a wide range of additional course and ongoing training. For further information, we recommend contacting the university:
