San Antonio Catholic University » Overview of the Institution

Universidad Católica San AntonioCreated in 1996, the San Antonio Catholic University of Murcia was authorised to offer official degree courses in 1999 and was accredited by the Government in 2000. This institution, governed and managed by the San Antonio University Foundation, was created with the fundamental purpose of "guaranteeing in an institutional manner the presence of Christians with a vocation for teaching and preaching in the academic, scientific and cultural world of our time, with the desire of providing a valid instrument which responds in the Catholic Faith to the major problems and questions of modern society, with deep Christian roots and contributing to cultural, social and human development and progress."

The work of the University is marked by quality and academic excellence, fundamental in its concept as a university community. Integrated education for its students of a basic premise: personalised attention, ongoing assessment, the completion of individual and group tasks, and the promotion of personal independence are the main pillars of the University's methodology.

In addition to this, the relationship with the society around the university community is given special attention from two perspectives: on one hand, the promotion of social values which aid the development and prosperity of the university environment. On the other hand, the relationship with key businesses in order to achieve employment-focused training, and allow the involvement of students in companies through internship programmes and other similar initiatives.

The university facilities are located in the Jerónimos Campus, on the outskirts of the capital of Murcia, and in 2007, it had over 14,500 square metros of classrooms, cafeteria, service centres, and lecture hall, among others. At the heart of the complex is the Jerónimos Monastery, an 18th century building and declared a National Historical and Artistic Monument.
