Carlos III University of Madrid » Overview of the Institution

The Universidad Carlos III de Madrid is a young public university, created in 1989. The philosophy of the institution highlights the importance of integrated education and aims to prepare citizens, and create "full responsible and free people, sensitive to social issues and committed to a concept of progress based on freedom, justice and tolerance".

Innovation is the word presiding over all of the Carlos III activities, which brings together studies in response to social demand with the option of taking some bilingual course, the inclusion of languages in all study plans, the obtaining of a number of Humanities study credits in order to pass the course, and the opportunity to study in small groups. In addition, the University promotes research and a high standard of teaching.

The university community can make use of high quality facilities with a wide range of services. The University has facilities in three campuses (in Getafe, Leganés and Colmenarejo) around the Autonomous Community of Madrid. The Getafe campus houses the Faculty of Social and Legal Sciences and the Faculty of Humanities, Communications and Documentation, while the Leganés campus is based around Engineering and is home to the Higher Polytechnic School. The Colmenarejo campus combines courses and studies from the three faculties.
