University of Almeria » Overview of the Institution

The University of Almería is a public institution created in 1993. Until then, Almería had a University College, the University College of Almería, part of the University of Granada. Its short history, however, has not prevented the University from growing fast, both in teaching and research.

Research, in particular, is one of the clearest areas supported by the institution. In addition, the University aims to maintain the highest standards of quality, the inclusion of new technologies in university activities, the adoption of new teaching methods to rise to new educational challenges and the integration of students onto the job market.

Its facilities are mainly located at the La Cañada campus, in La Cañada de San Urbano, on the outskirts of Almería. The University's commitment to its surroundings (it is close to the Cabo de Gata - Níkar Natural Park) and society is one of its most marked characteristics.
